BARNARD TAKES THE WIN BY A WHISKER

Taylor BarnardTaylor Barnard race to his maiden LGM win today in the final round of the series. Clayton Ravenscroft had a superb pole position, but straight from the start, the race was of two halves, Lorcan Hanafin and Taylor Barnard broke away very quickly and worked together, behind that was everyone else. The off pace championship contender Harry Thompson was pushed up to third place by the new MSA champion Dexter Patterson. Patterson made it clear that Thompson was going to stay in front and no one was going to pass. Jonny Edgar found himself in 5th place and was enough to take the title, but Edgar seemed like he wanted to race and as he passed Patterson, he would pass Edgar straight back, Thompson had no pace and could not move away, so slow was he’s pace that the rest of the runners caught back up. Edgar was now under threat from many drivers of being shuffled back and losing the title. Bray Kenneally arrived and set about passing, clearing Edgar, then Patterson, Kenneally then pushed Thompson again while Patterson and Edgar duel it out. On the last lap Edgar was 7th, but was still enough with Thompson’s 3rd. As they went into the pits corner, both Kenneally and Thompson didn’t come back out. Leaving Patterson 3rd and Edgar 4th and the championship. Mean while at the front Hanafin looked to have it all under control until the line where Barnard’s straighter run got it by a whisker. Ravenscroft picked up 5th place and Georgi Dimitrov 6th.
